iOS apps display red notification badges for reminding the users of pending activity. Their default position is at the top of the homescreen. However, if you want to place them anywhere else, the newly released Cydia tweak known as Boover will allow you to do so. There are several Badge positions you can choose from, and the jailbreak app also gives you the option to define the position manually.
After installation, a new menu is going to appear in the Settings app. There will be one toggle at the top followed by badge position and configuration for pixel precision. The first toggle is for ‘hide labels’ and turning it on will hide the name of the apps, while only displaying the icons.
The second option is for ‘badge position’. Tapping on this option will take you to its menu, where you’ll be presented with 10 options for positioning. The default position is top right, but you can select any one of these positions; right, bottom, top, left, the center, or any four corners. After choosing any of the positions, you can use the ‘pixel precision offset’ to move the position on Y or X axes, which will allow you to select the exact position desired.
The app also presents you with the choice of replacing the badge with the app label. After you’re through the placement, exit the tweak and check for notifications. An extra feature is that you can hide the apps on the Springboard. The jailbreak app also works flawlessly while you’re on the App Switcher Tray.
Boover can be found at the Cydia Store through the BigBoss repository. It’s a free of charge download. Let us know if you try it out.
